Powering Up

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

This has been one of those days. Our church, along with several other churches in town has sponsored a Power Teamevent, and so we are right in the middle of it, being responsible for helping with the assemblies at the schools, as well as what they do at night at the High School. The phone at the church this morning rang off the hook. If it wasn’t Gordon calling, it was someone for Gordon. Or someone needing me to do something, or… plus then, of course, the regular normal phone calls we would get on a typical day.It is a 5 day crusade. I don’t know if I will attend all 5 nights, but I will go to the majority of them. What they do is amazing. But what is even more amazing is the message, and how they get the schools on board with it, even though it delivers a Christian message.I don’t think we are going to camp this weekend. We won’t be home tomorrow night (Friday), because we’ll be at the school for the Power Team. Ethan has to work 8:30-12:30 and then back at 4:30-closing on Saturday. And we don’t know what his schedule is for Sunday. So, he wouldn’t be there for breakfast, or supper … and even though I love camping, I’m not sure I want to do it all by myself. Even though we have a family reunion planned for the next Saturday, which is Labor Day weekend, we could still drag the camper out to the lake — I’m pretty sure other family members will be camping that weekend as well — sleep out there Friday night, attend the reunion Saturday, and then still camp Sunday and Monday. That would work. But I just don’t think its worth the effort to do it this weekend. And there is alot of things that should be done at home. I need to work on them, and then be able to camp the next weekend, guilt free! Sounds like a plan to me.

In The Groove

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

I don’t know why I can’t get back in the groove of writing. Even the paid blogging juices are wanning. I’ve really had to work at them this week to get done what needed to be done. I know, I know. I have too much on my plate, and at some point, I am going to burn out. There probably is an ounce of truth to that. But, I can’t give up. I won’t, I won’t, I won’t.

I have a whole list of things I want to blog about here, so its not that I lack for subject matter. Its just a matter of sitting down and doing it. I have had a head cold all week…thanks to Ethan. Maybe not, his was more down in his chest. The doctor said bronchitis, with atypical symptoms of asthma. So far, this junk hasn’t moved down in to my chest. A little cough, but its dry. Most my head and nose. So, that could be part of my lack of enthusiasm for anything.

And then, of course, there is the time factor, but that doesn’t count. Because I have had time to do other things (like change the layout. I WILL get settled back down here with just one. Its just when I change, its like buying new shoes. You have to try on a dozen pair before you can settle on the one you really really like). Well, I really really like this Wordpress press theme I’m using (you should be seeing brown, lots and lots of brown). I like it so much that I have the same theme over at A Prairie View. Just a different picture. I know its hot, hot, hot out there. But, word-association for me is “August=the beginning of fall”. I have lots of fall graphics and such, so my seaside babes are put away for another season, and I’m dragging out all my fall fun stuff.

So, if I have time to play with the look, I DID have time to put words to paper (ok, keystrokes to screen). My routine has been interupted this week thought with various different things. Last night we ate supper with David’s mom and dad, and it was almost 9:00 before we got home. Tuesday night, Ethan wasn’t home, so we went on a little mini-date — just because. And that put us home around 8:30. Monday, I think I was home, but sorting through some of the stuff we brought in from the camper, getting stuff ready so we can camp again this weekend.

I do plan on writing up some entries while we camp, even though I won’t have internet service out there. If the energy is there, and the words flow, I’ll just get them wrote up into notepad and save to a CD. I did that last weekend with a few paid entries. So, it can be done. Like I said, I have a list of things I really want to get wrote here, so this would be a good weekend to get that done. On the go. Never ending!

Things that Make Me Smile or Laugh

  • A group of children coming together to learn about Jesus, and just having a good time (VBS was this week.  I smiled alot!)
  • Family Time
  • A new camper
  • Watching David fill the cart at Walmart with new stuff for the camper (he usually is a “what do we need THAT for” kind of guy.  But, he was filling our cart left and right with things.
  • Reconnecting IRL with friends from the past
  • Paypal notices (saying money has been deposited in my account)
  • Cold crisp watermelon
  • Air Conditioning!
  • Receiving products in the mail for review (like my new locket)

New Plugin

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Oh Cool Cool Cool. I installed this new plugin last week, but didn’t really see it add it anywhere, so I never thought anymore about it. I was editing the last entry, and went into the code area, and there is a button there called “lightbox 2″ that wasn’t there before — its that plugin I installed last week. I just tried it out with the little graphic I used in the last entry, and saw what it does. I love it! So, let me show you know, only I’ll use a real picture. (well, ok — a cartoon. I need to resize my pictures so when you click on the thumbnail they don’t go to these HUGE pictures.)

I’m Back….No. Really.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Ok. Its time to re-enter the world of regular blogging. VBS is now behind us, I don’t see a whole lot on the calendar, other than camping for awhile. Its time I show myself again, and quit hiding. Its just been a hectic couple of weeks. Yesterday was a perfect example. Worked at the church in the morning, at the trucking company in the afternoon. Straight to VBS from work. Got to meet up and chat with a long time friend that I haven’t seen forever. And she blogs too! Whoo hooo!

David ALSO meet up with me at VBS … last night was a program and a meal. We left the church and went to Emporia to pick up a truck and trailer they had had at the shop. While we were in Emporia, we hit Walmart, to “furnish” our new camper. That was fun. I don’t remember a time when we were able to fill the cart like we did, and that he didn’t give me a “what do we need THAT for?”. We decided with this camper, we would be stuff to leave IN the camper — and not pack and unpack every weekend. So, we got sheets and bedding, new pillows, pots and pans, plates, silverware, utensils … just all kinds of stuff. We even looked at microwaves, and the only thing that stopped us from getting one, we decided that maybe we should measure. There is a cabinet in our camper that has a plug-in — it looks like it was made to put a microwave in. And, we were pretty sure the one we looked at would go in there, but we just wanted to make sure. The stove in the camper works, so, its not like we won’t be able to cook if we didn’t get it. We just added it to the list of next time.

It was almost 11:00 before we got home. Talk about a LONG. Day. But today and this evening looks pretty uncomplicated, other than some major paid blogging stuff I need to do. Lots of money sitting there, just waiting for me to get it wrote up. And I really need to do it tonight, because tomorrow night, we’ll be camping, and no internet service. I’m still taking the laptop, but only because I have a bunch of video clips and pictures I want to get burned to CDs and get them off the desktop of the laptop. Plus, want to print some pictures out, so thats on my list of things to do this weekend as well. Nothing like camping with … air conditioning and a laptop. Thats OK though. I haven’t seen David get involved in something so whole heartedly that 1. Cost us a little bit of money and 2. Doesn’t involve the trucking company. So, this truly is a good thing!
