Last Week Recap

Ah yes.  This week is going much better, and its only Monday.  Last week was just centered around way too much drama, and I let myself get way to emotional.  This weekend was a quiet, layed back weekend, and today followed suit.  Which is not to say that my emotional week was due to the hectic weekend.  It was a great weekend.  Filled with family and fun, and yes, a bit of drama.  But, for the most part, it was a great weekend.  We headed out to the lake Friday night with our camper, and camped with David’s brother.

The next day, we were up and on the road by 8:00 to attend a family reunion in Manhattan.  The reunion was over by 3:00, but we also had plans with Sarah and her family back in Topeka at 6:00 for supper.  It was almost 10:00 before we finally got home.  Well, ah, not home, but back to the camper.  We were up bright and early Sunday for a family breakfast.  Sarah and her family came down and camped with us until Monday afternoon.  Since she and Becky were there, I called the boys and let them know we were camping, and if they wanted to come out for a BBQ Sunday night, they were invited.  As it played out, it was kinda spooky.  With the exception of one grandchild — Malachi — I had seen and spoke to most every relative I have that weekend.  All my aunt and my uncle.  Cousins.  All my kids.  All of David’s family.

I had thought about calling Malachi’s mom and seeing if I could “borrow” him for the evening, but decided against it.  As it played out,  it was probably a good thing I didn’t.  Ethan decided to remodel the side of my Explorer.   Granted, it wasn’t totally his fault or recklessness on his part.  He rounded a corner coming back out to the lake (he had come into town for Barbershop practice) and when you round this corner, you are facing due west.  The sun was right in his eyes, and for a brief moment, he coudln’t see…. and he side swiped a sign.  Needless to say, it made for a very emotional evening for me, let alone Ethan’s emotional state of the moment.

Monday we continued to camp.  David’s brother’s pulled out by noon, but we didn’t start packing up things until mid-afternoon.  I was totally amazed at how resourceful Sarah was, packing all their stuff.  But they got it all in, plus their dog.   It seemed like they had a good time, and hopefully, we will do it again sometime.

After the weekend, I was hoping it would be a calm week, but it sure didn’t play out that way.   Or maybe it did, and I just wasn’t in the best of emotional states, and just let everything get to me.  But, we got through it, and I welcomed the quiet weekend, and like that we are back to a normal week!   I could do with a little less drama!
