Family Event
We were going to go camping this weekend — (think, book marathon), but after looking at our calendar, decided that we would do it some other weekend. But, we really do want to get a few more weekends in this summer and fall. I know people go out and spend lots of money on campers and such (and of course, there are those who don’t spend much more than the cost of a tent). We bought a 5th wheel last summer paid $3000 for it. Thats not a drop in the bucket to what alot of avid campers pay for their weekend accomodations. David’s brother paid more for his camper than we did for our house. Even so, David still looks at things in dollars and cents. And he has it figued out that so far, we could have stayed in some nice hotels for the number of times we have camped for what we paid for the camper. No cheap hotels but $200 and $300 a night kind. And yet, as I pointed out to him. We wouldn’t have had the opportunity to enjoy a weekend with his daughters, or have a big famil meal with everyone like we do when we do camp. When we camp, its usually a combined family event, and those moments are usually priceless. And, for each time we continue to camp, that “cost per night” is going to come down. Yes, I would love to have a newer, nicer camper. But, no more than what we actually do camp, it just doesn’t make any sense to go into debt to have a few nice nights out in the wilderness.
